Setfords Appoints New Communications Director to Lead on Brand Strategy

Top 100 law firm and Sunday Times 100 fast-growing company Setfords has announced the appointment of Eric Woollard-White as Director of Brand, Communications and PR.

Woollard-White, a former journalist who was communications chief for the BBC Dragons’ Den panelist Peter Jones CBE for ten years, has previously held senior public relations roles at Royal Mail Group and Porter Novelli, an Omnicom Group consultancy.

He takes on the newly created position, based at Setfords headquarters in Guildford, Surrey, with immediate effect following working as an independent consultant and Non-Executive Director (NED) for clients in the entertainment and media sectors.

“We are delighted to welcome Eric to Setfords. As well as an in-depth knowledge of PR and reputation management, he brings broader business experience of working within fast-growth, entrepreneurial companies,” Guy Setford, Co-CEO of Setfords, told The Professionals

“This combination of skills will be hugely valuable in energising our corporate communications strategy as we continue to innovate our support proposition for consultant solicitors and grow the business even further.”

After the completion of an initial review of current activity, the main responsibility of the new role will be to implement a communications strategy that builds brand awareness among key audiences and raises the corporate profile of the company. Setfords’ lawyer recruitment and business development processes will be target areas for additional communications support, building on existing wider marketing activity.

Consultants at Setfords benefit from an industry-leading business development team that generates £8m to £10m of new business leads annually, which it distributes to consultants to supplement their workloads.

Speaking to The Professionals, Eric added: “This is a very exciting time to be joining Setfords and taking on a communications role in the legal industry. Within the lawyer community, there is a workstyle revolution taking place and Setfords is right at the heart of this change, as the original pioneer of the consultant law firm model more than a decade ago.

“Innovation is at the very core of this business, and we want to build a brand that is recognised globally for setting the benchmark that others aspire to.”
