London law firm Lawrence Stephens has appointed Daryl Atkinson as its new Head of Business Development and Marketing.
The appointment follows a period of strong growth for the London-based entrepreneurial and ambitious law firm.
Daryl, who joined the firm in June, brings to the firm a wealth of experience and a phenomenal track record having previously held director of business development and marketing roles at Howard Kennedy and Charles Russell Speechlys.
Lawrence Stephens, structured as a limited company, has 35 directors (partner equivalent) and around 150 staff. The firm has a strong reputation for representing scale-up businesses and challenger banks. Daryl joins the firm’s executive committee with responsibility to drive growth and shape the firm’s strategy.
Speaking to The Professionals, Daryl said: “The firm is growing year on year and is looking for greater professionalism in its marketing and business development programmes. There is a lot to do, including developing a sector approach to marketing and BD and more clearly defining client types. We will also be leading a review of our marketing and BD infrastructure, including website and comms.”
Daryl leads a team of four marketing professionals at the firm, although expects that to grow in line with the firm’s own growth ambitions.
“It is,” he says, “refreshing to join a smaller firm and to play a much greater role in shaping and building the firm. There is a real opportunity to demonstrate the impact marketing and business development can have on growth.”
